Cleankill Pest Control

Cleankill Pest Control is a Gold Investors in People accredited organisation, and employs 57 staff, which consists of nine office staff and 48 technicians.

The company offers eradication and preventative services for all public health pests, including: rats, mice, wasps, cockroaches, squirrels, fleas, bed bugs, and pest birds. As a registered waste carrier, Cleankill also removes pigeon debris and other waste.

Managing director Paul Bates, Cleankill Pest Control’s managing director, said: “One of the key business objectives which sets Cleankill apart is an environmentally responsible approach to pest prevention.”

Pest Solutions

Founded in 2015, Pest Solutions covers Scotland and in the last year it opened in Newcastle and is already seeing its presence grow in the North-east of England.

The company delivers a full range of professional pest control and bird control services to both domestic and commercial customers.

The business employs 46 staff, which includes 30 technicians.

Chris Cagienard, managing director, said that by hiring the best people available, 40-45% of the company’s service team is female in an industry with an average of 4.5% female representation. In 2022, it improved employment conditions for its team by introducing a suite of additional benefits. Mr Cagienard added: “Winning the award would be validation that we’re on the right track,” he said.

Rokill, based in Ringwood within the New Forest, was established in 1980 and employs 110 staff, of which 92 are on the front line.

Dave Perrett, national operations manager, said that the last year has been unprecedented for the business in terms of growth.

“Since August 2022, we have moved from being a regional company covering the southern half of the country, to a national company able to provide pest control services throughout England and Wales without the use of subcontractors.”

The company achieved this through the acquisition of three other pest control businesses, Alpha Pest Control, Enserve Corporation and Pest Pro.

Vergo Pest Management

Vergo Pest Management has 502 staff, of which 400 are frontline technicians. Whilst the brand is relatively young, James Gilding, chief executive, said the core business has been running for more than 45 years.

“The primary objective of our pest control services is to efficiently remove pests while prioritising the safety of the clients and the environment.”

Mr Gilding said that all technicians, operational managers and surveyors are qualified with the RSPH Level 2 Award in Pest Management.

He added that being a finalist recognises the hard work of the team.

“We’re delighted to be finalists and are looking forward to a great night,” he said.
